CBT
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) is a mandatory course that all riders are required by law to successfully complete before riding a machine up to 125cc unaccompanied on the public road.
A1 Progressive (light) 17+ years
After passing your CBT and motorcycle theory test you are then able to take your practical motorcycle test. From 27 April 2009 the practical test has been split into two separate modules. From 17 years old a 125cc tst can be taken.
Persons aged between 17 to 19 years are only permitted to take the test on a 125cc machine that does not have a power output exceeding 11kW.
A2 Progressive (standard) 19+ years
Persons aged between 19 and 24 years of age are permitted to take the test on a large machine of at least 595cc. A test pass will allow you to ride a bike up to and not exceeding 395cc and 35kw (46.6 Billion)
At UMT we have a large fleet of machines that fully meet the DAS training and testing criteria. Depending on your experience UMT would recommend a training course that will get your riding skills up to test standard.
A Direct Access Scheme (unrestricted) 24+ years
Persons aged 24 years or older are permitted to take the test on a large machine of at least 595cc. A test pass will allow you to ride any size bike straight away.
